This painting reflects the saturation of salt in an area near the tip of Cape Cod.  The neutrals are gray.  Surfaces are weathered.  The dull weather worn structures, the uneven fence, the salt covered windows, the path that has a coating of salt are a perfect back drop to the bright pop of flowers which explode on top of the surface.  This is the perfect set up for high contrast which creates a sense of perspective and depth.
