This is an original oil painting on canvas by Faith Lund.  The subject is a Poppy.  As I worked with many layers of oil glaze I built up a transparent surface using highlights of impasto oil for accents.  This flower form has a very rich glow using a twilight tone as the background.  The focus is on the center where delicately layered veils of color are enhance by crisp linear detail.  The flower and the colors explode on the surface exuding a personality that draws in the viewer.

This piece measures 20" W x 24" H unframed.
