This is an original painting by Faith Lund using charcoal, acrylic, and oil.  The subject is of a decaying sunflower.  This piece is not stereotypical of the common image we know.  As a result it has a personality and richness of it's own.  The painting was started by drawing the subject very loosely with charcoal with added shaded detail.  The charcoal remained throughout the layering process and created depth.  Many textures and an image where depth is featured makes the piece explode.  High contrast in paint application and color choice add a three dimensional quality.  The end result is a surface that draws you in to explore each and every detail.
